About
We're Lexi and Ryan, an American and a Scot living in Scotland. On October 6th, 2010 we welcomed our daughter, Alana (who we fondly call Lani) into our lives, and we've never been happier. This blog is for her. <3

Lani is absolutely beautiful. I noticed a lot of Dinosaur things scrolling through your blog (slide, toys, t-shirt), is Lani really into dinosaurs?
I ask because Malorie LOVES them. You should have seen her face when we went into the National Geographic shop the other day!
Thank you!
I hadn’t even noticed that, haha. It wasn’t intentional… both the dinosaur toys and the shirt were gifts and the slide just happened to be dino shaped. We couldn’t pass it up as it was only £12 at ASDA!
That said, me and my husband both really like dinosaurs so if Lani comes to love them, we wouldn’t be surprised. I’m not sure if we have a National Geographic store here (probably not) but I’d love to take her to the natural history museum in London to see all the dinosaur fossils!

We had planned to go to the beach last Monday, but the weather was against us, so Ryan had the awesome idea to go to the National Museum of Scotland. I hadn’t been yet, so I think I probably enjoyed it more than anyone haha. A lot of the exhibits were closed for renovation, but I’m really looking forward to going again when it reopens in July.

Since I don’t really have any friends with kids, I’ve no one to compare Lani to, but she just seems so big for her age! She’ll be 7 months on May 6th but that shirt she has on is a 12 month shirt and the skirt is 9-12 months, too. Though we did manage to squeeze her into those 0-6month tights. :)
I suppose it’s a bit silly for an atheist and an agnostic to celebrate Easter, but nevermind. In my family, the easter basket was a pretty big deal. We always spent easter together, with our baskets full of colored eggs, with way too much delicious food and of course lots of goodies from a very generous easter bunny. And so I wanted to pass that joyful family experience onto Lani.

Apparently easter baskets aren’t the done thing, here in bonnie Scotland (or I suppose the UK in general). It was REALLY hard to find an easter basket. We had to search! We found this lovely wicker basket at a craft store, and I decorated it. We only put a few wee things in it this year as Lani’s still just 6 months old and she was more interested in having a good chew on the handle.

She wore the cutest playsuit and hat from our family in Texas. It was prefect for the weather that day too- lovely and warm. Which was a pleasent surprise. And to top it off, we came across this adorable dinosaur slide at ASDA and thought Lani would probably really enjoy it in a few months. Daddy helped her try it out. :)

The weather in Scotland has been shockingly wonderful these past few days, and we are trying to enjoy every minute of it. Sometimes I get a little depressed when it’s so cold here and think of how summer has already started back home. Lani seemed to enjoy the outdoors (or maybe it was because Daddy was carrying her around?) and we even enjoyed some afternoon tea at the new resturant on the grounds.

Everything was so green and in bloom as well. We plan to spend every sunny day we have free either at the botanics or at the beach. Which will hopefully make for an awesome summer. <3

We took Lani out with us on Saturday to run some errands in town, and she was such a good girl! She slept in Daddy’s arms a few times, and then afterwards we headed to Wannaburger for some grub. She loved the high chair they had, and happily played, ate her food, had her bottle and was so much fun to eat lunch with.

Thank you! x

On wednesday morning you ate toast for the first time, and you loved it. You also munched on a little hunk of banana too. You haven’t got any teeth yet, so it’s a bit stressful for me to watch and make sure you aren’t gumming off hunks that you can’t swallow. But it sure if fun to watch you enjoy yourself!
Love,
Mama
